History
Originally built in the 16th Century as a private house, The Winchester Royal has been over the years a Bishop's residence, a convent and since 1870 a fine hotel.
Residing in the ancient loft is the ghost of a young maid who on occasion can be seen hanging from the beams. She has been seen by many staff and a local medium told us the harrowing tale of a young maid who was so abused by the master of the house she felt her only option was to end her sad and lonely life. The same medium picked up on a more malevolent spirit who he assumed was the 'old master' of the house. The story he began to tell was so terrifying the duty manager he was with asked him to stop...
And of course a huge thank you to everyone I have spoken to in the lead up to the evening as I had to make many amendments with guests and food and you all made it so easy and stress free. 10/10!
