For general information about murder mystery evenings, please see our Murder Mystery Evenings FAQ. Note: We can also provide murder mysteries over lunch or for an afternoon.
What do you provide?
For our evening events we provide all actors, clues and paperwork (programmes, answer and explanation sheets, winner's certificate) necessary to run the plot and are happy to work with and around any caterers you wish to use for your event. We can also arrange a venue (see the Booking a Private Event section of this FAQ for more about that).
How many people can I bring to my event?
We can arrange a private murder mystery evening (or lunch/afternoon) for any group of 25 up to 150 or more people.
Do you need a stage?
Due to the interactive nature of our events, where we mingle with the audience for most of the evening, we require very little extra room and are used to working in restaurants, function rooms, village halls; we have even put on events in customers' own living rooms.
Do my guests get given characters?
All the characters are played by actors. Your guests are welcome to invent characters to fit in with the scenario but they will not be murdered or be regarded as suspects.
Do my guests have to dress up?
It depends on the plot; some plots require dressing up and others can optionally have a dress code. Let us know what you want and we'll advise you which plot or plots are most appropriate.
Is there a prize?
We bring certificates to be given out to winners, but you may like to provide a prize such as some wine or a box or boxes of chocolates. If you decide to award prizes you may also want to give one to the most "creative" (wrong) answer.
What are the usual timings for an evening?
Our usual format for an evening would be over the course of a meal with the actors sitting at the table(s) throughout each course and moving around between courses (we usually expect food to be provided for the actors as well as the guests). We are happy to tailor our entertainment to your own requirements. For example, should you wish to have a disco after the murder mystery we can ensure the murderer is unveiled earlier. Contact us for a sample timetable.
What plots do you have?
We have a whole range of plots from a wedding reception to a UFO convention. Contact us for a list of plots. There should be one to suit and we will be happy to give you further information any aspects of each plot or advise you on which plots might be most suitable for your event.
For our standard weekend events we would provide all actors, clues and paperwork (clues, answer and explanation sheets, winner's certificates) necessary to run the plot and are happy to work with and around the venue you wish to use for each particular event. We can also arrange a venue (see the Booking a Private Event section of this FAQ for more information).
What do you need at the venue?
We require a private room over the course of the weekend for the action to go on in (unless the venue has been booked for exclusive use) as well as sufficient overnight accommodation for all the guests and actors (normally around 6 or 7).
Do you need a stage?
Due to the interactive nature of our events, where we mingle with the audience for most of the weekend, we require very little extra room for ourselves. However, sometimes the plot may require a stage or something extra but if this is not possible we can normally work around it.
How many people can I bring to my event?
We can arrange a private murder mystery weekend for any group of 30 up to about 80 people.
Is there a prize?
We bring certificates that be given out to winners, but many customers also like to provide a prize such as some bottles of wine or a box or boxes of chocolates.
What are the usual timings for a weekend?
Generally we would expect the murder mystery to start mid-afternoon on the Saturday (around 4.30pm) and continue until late morning on the Sunday (around 11am) but we can adjust this a little to suit your requirements (subject to agreement with the venue). There will, of course, be breaks to change for dinner and overnight.
What plots do you have?
We have a number of plots available, ranging from a wedding to a game show but we are always writing more. Contact us for a list of plots. There should be one to suit; we will be happy to give you further information any plots or advise you on which ones might be most suitable for your event.

Can you arrange a venue?
Yes we can. Although we are happy to work anywhere if you already have a venue. Please see our locations page for details of the venues we regularly work with, or let us know what part of the country you want to hold the event in and we can find something near there.
What parts of the country do you cover?
We cover the South East of England, South of England and West Midlands.
How much will it cost?
That depends on a number of factors:
The type of event (evening or weekend)
Whether you need us to arrange a venue
Whereabouts in the country the event will be
Also, if we arrange the venue, a number of other factors will apply:
How many people will be attending
What menu is selected
Whether any drinks are to be included
Whether a disco is required
Whether accommodation is required
Please contact us telling us as much as you can about what you are looking for and we will give you a quote for how much it will cost.
How do I book a private event?
First call us on 0845 166 7510 or send us a message via our enquiry page telling us about what you are looking for (see the "How much will it cost?" question above for the information we need to know to give you a quote). Also, give us any dates you have in mind so we can ensure that the date you require is available; some periods can get very booked up.
What are your payment terms?
If we are arranging a venue for you, this can vary depending on the venue's payment terms. Generally we require a deposit with booking and the remainder will be due a week before the event. Note: if you pay by credit card, there will be a 2% credit card charge.
What are your cancellation terms?
Again this will depend on the venue's terms. Generally, the deposit is non-refundable and full payment is required if the event is cancelled less than ten days before the event.
